Viktor vs Claude: Claude Tag, Cowork or Viktor for Your Team?

Claude in Slack is now called Claude Tag. Here's how it compares with Claude Cowork and Viktor on where each lives, how it bills, what setup takes and when each one wins, with prices checked 15 September 2026.

People searching "Viktor vs Claude" are usually comparing two different things without knowing it. Claude is a family of products. Viktor is one AI employee for a team.

Anthropic's Slack product used to be called Claude in Slack. On 3 August 2026 it switched over to Claude Tag, per Claude's help center. Claude Cowork is a different product that works on your own files and tools.

I run 6 named Viktor agents for my agency, Dr. Lead Flow, and I use Claude every day. This guide compares Claude Tag, Claude Cowork and Viktor side by side, prices both for a 5-person and a 15-person team, and says plainly when Claude is the better pick.

Start here: what each product is, in plain words

Three products, three different jobs. Names first, then the table.

Claude Tag (formerly Claude in Slack)

Claude Tag puts Claude inside your Slack channels. Anyone in a channel types @Claude with a task, and it works through it and posts the result in the thread. Everyone in that channel works with the same Claude, so a teammate can steer it or pick up where you left off, per Anthropic's Claude Tag docs.

It's in beta on Claude Team and Enterprise plans only, not on Free, Pro or Max. It works in Slack today. Microsoft Teams support is on a waitlist. People often search it as "Claude in Slack" or "Claude Slack".

Claude Cowork

Cowork is where one person hands Claude real work on their own files and tools. You point it at folders and connectors, it runs a multi-step task and brings back the finished file for review, per Anthropic's Cowork page. It can run scheduled tasks on paid plans.

Anthropic's own docs put the split this way: shared team work in channels is Claude Tag, personal work is Cowork or Claude Code. Cowork is included on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise.

Viktor

Viktor is an AI employee that lives in Slack or Microsoft Teams. You message it like a teammate, it connects to your tools, runs scheduled tasks and saves what it learns as skills, per viktor.com. The whole workspace shares one plan and one pool of credits.

My roster is 6 named agents on schedules: a Monday Meta Ads review, a daily DM audit, daily call health scores and a Friday CEO pulse among them. The details are in my Viktor review.

The core difference

Comparison diagram. Left, Claude Tag on a Team or Enterprise plan: lives in Slack channels with Microsoft Teams on a waitlist, bills seats per person plus channel usage from a funded balance, an Owner pairs Slack and adds a service account per tool, routines and memory are scoped to each channel, seats also unlock Cowork and Claude Code, Anthropic runs it and your Owner maintains connections. Right, Viktor: lives in Slack or Microsoft Teams today, one workspace plan from 50 to 200 dollars with shared credits, sign up and connect tools with logins, scheduled tasks and saved skills, 3,200 plus integrations, and it asks approval before sensitive actions.

Claude bills mostly per person, and Claude Tag adds a usage balance on top. Viktor bills per workspace. That one fact drives most of the decision below.

The mental model

Wrong

Comparing Viktor with "Claude" as if Claude were one product, then paying for seats nobody uses or a Slack bot nobody set up.

Right

Split the job first. Personal writing and analysis on your own files is Cowork. Shared work your team should see and steer in Slack is Claude Tag or Viktor. Then compare Claude Tag and Viktor on billing, setup and the tools you use.

Isn't Claude cheaper if we already pay for it?

We already have Claude seats. Why would we pay for Viktor too?

Sometimes you shouldn't. If you're on Claude Team and your Slack work lives in tools Claude Tag connects to, try Claude Tag first. But seats don't cover channel work.

  • Claude Tag channel work isn't in your seats. It draws from a usage balance an Owner funds, per the spend limit docs.
  • There's no published per-task price. Anthropic's docs say to pilot with a spend limit and watch the per-channel breakdown.
  • Pro and Max don't include Claude Tag. A team on individual plans needs a Team or Enterprise organization first.
  • Setup needs an Owner who can create a service account for each tool Claude should reach.

Already on Team with an Owner who'll run setup: Claude Tag is the natural first test. No Claude Team plan and a team living in Slack or Teams: Viktor is the shorter path.

How to choose, in 5 steps

1. Count who needs it

Flow diagram of choosing between Viktor and Claude in 5 steps: count who needs it, decide where the work happens, price it for your team size, check what each connects to, run a 1-week test.Write down 3 numbers: people who need Claude for their own writing and analysis, people who only need to hand work to an AI in Slack, and total headcount.

Claude Tag's member access can be open to anyone in your Slack workspace, per Claude's help center, so not everyone who tags it in a channel needs a seat. Cowork and Claude chat are per seat. Viktor is shared by the whole workspace.

Why: headcount decides whether per-seat or per-workspace billing is cheaper for you.

2. Decide where the work happens

On your own files, alone: drafting a proposal, analyzing a spreadsheet, rewriting a deck. That's Claude Cowork.

In shared channels, where the team should see it: client reports, call recaps, status digests, request triage. That's Claude Tag or Viktor.

In Microsoft Teams: Viktor works there today. Claude Tag is Slack only for now.

Why: Anthropic's own comparison says team work in channels is Claude Tag and personal work is Cowork or Claude Code. Picking the wrong surface is the most common waste.

3. Price it for your team size

Prices from claude.com/pricing and viktor.com/pricing, checked 15 September 2026. Claude Team Standard seats are $25 a month billed monthly or $20 a month billed annually, 2 to 150 seats. Premium seats are $125 monthly or $100 annually. Viktor Team plans are $50, $75, $100 or $200 a month for 20,000 to 80,000 shared credits.

5-person team, everyone on Claude Standard: $125 a month billed monthly, or $100 a month billed annually. Claude Tag channel work is extra, from the usage balance. Viktor: one plan from $50 to $200 a month, same price whether 5 or 50 people use it.

15-person team, everyone on Claude Standard: $375 a month billed monthly, or $300 a month billed annually, plus Claude Tag usage. Viktor: still one plan from $50 to $200 a month.

15-person team, only 2 heavy Claude users: the Team minimum of 2 Standard seats is $50 monthly or $40 annually, with Claude Tag channel usage on top for everyone else.

Both sides bill by use somewhere. Claude Tag has no published per-task cost, and Viktor credits are model costs passed through, so run step 5 before you trust either number. Team organizations may have a one-time $2,500 Claude Tag launch credit that expires 1 October 2026 and, since 2 September, needs a GitHub connection.

Why: seats scale with headcount. A shared pool scales with work. My Viktor pricing guide covers how credits burn.

Team size: [ ]
Claude seats needed (Standard/Premium): [ ] x $[ ] = $[ ] a month
Claude Tag spend limit for the pilot: $[ ]
Viktor plan: $[50 / 75 / 100 / 200] a month
Credits or usage used in test week: [ ]

4. Check what each connects to

List the 5 tools your recurring jobs touch, like Meta Ads, GoHighLevel, HubSpot, Google Drive and your call recorder.

Claude Tag: presets include Google Drive, Notion, Confluence, Linear, Asana, Jira, HubSpot, Gong, Salesforce and GitHub, and an Owner can add any app with an API or an MCP server as a custom tool, per the connections docs. Each connection is a service account for Claude, scoped to channels.

Viktor: 3,200+ integrations including Google Ads, Meta Ads, HubSpot, Notion and Google Drive, with multiple accounts of one tool kept separate, per viktor.com/integrations. That matters when you run one ad account per client.

Why: an agent that can't reach the tool behind a job can't do the job. Count preset connections versus custom builds for your own list.

5. Run a 1-week test

Pick 2 jobs you do every week, like a Monday ad performance summary and a Friday client status digest. Run them in one private test channel. Set a Claude Tag spend limit, or start Viktor on its trial: $100 in credits, or $150 through my affiliate link.

Keep every outside email, ad change and CRM edit behind human approval. Anthropic's docs suggest testing Claude Tag in a private channel first. My Viktor Slack setup guide has the first-week order.

Why: a week shows real cost, setup hours and whether anyone reads the output.

Job 1: [weekly job]
Job 2: [weekly job]
Pass test: [what a usable result looks like]
Setup hours: Claude Tag [ ] Viktor [ ]
Cost this week: Claude Tag [ ] Viktor [ ]
Output the team used: [yes/no]
Keep, switch or stop: [ ]

The honest verdict

  • Claude wins when your team is already on Claude Team or Enterprise, the work is heavy on writing and analysis, the per-seat budget fits, and an Owner is ready to set up service accounts. You get Claude Tag, Cowork and Claude Code under one organization.
  • Claude Tag wins for channel work tied to Google Drive, Notion, HubSpot, Salesforce, Linear or GitHub, and for teams that want spend capped per channel with a log of who asked for what.
  • Viktor wins for agency teams that live in Slack or Microsoft Teams and want one shared pool instead of seats, with recurring reports across many tools and many client accounts. That's my setup: 6 named agents, each with a schedule and a channel.
  • Viktor also wins when nobody on the team wants to be the Owner who builds service accounts, or when you work in Teams today.
  • You can use both. Cowork for personal drafting on Claude seats, Viktor for shared recurring reports in channels. Don't run the same scheduled job in both.

Questions people ask

Is Viktor better than Claude?

For different jobs. Claude, through Cowork and chat, is stronger for one person's writing and analysis on their own files. For shared recurring work in Slack or Microsoft Teams across many tools, Viktor is often simpler because it bills per workspace and sets up with logins. If you're already on Claude Team, test Claude Tag against Viktor on the same 2 jobs for a week.

Can Claude work in Slack?

Yes, through Claude Tag, which replaced the earlier Claude in Slack app on 3 August 2026. You tag @Claude in a channel and it works in the thread. It's in beta on Team and Enterprise plans, not Free, Pro or Max, per Claude's help center.

How much does Claude in Slack cost?

Claude Tag adds no per-seat charge, but you need a Team or Enterprise plan, and channel work draws from a usage balance an Owner funds and caps with a spend limit. Team Standard seats are $25 a month monthly or $20 annually with a 2 seat minimum, checked 15 September 2026. Anthropic publishes no per-task price for Claude Tag, so pilot with a spend limit.

Viktor vs Claude Cowork: what's the difference?

Cowork is Claude working for one person on their own files and connectors, included on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Viktor is one AI employee shared by the whole team in Slack or Teams on a workspace credit pool. The closer comparison to Viktor is Claude Tag.

Can I use both Claude and Viktor?

Yes. A common split is Claude seats for personal drafting and analysis in Cowork, and Viktor for shared scheduled reports in team channels. Give each job one owner so you don't pay twice for the same work.

The free skill

It asks your headcount, where the work happens, your current Claude plan and the tools your recurring jobs touch, then recommends Claude Tag, Claude Cowork, Viktor or a split, with a price worksheet and a 1-week test. Related guides: Viktor pricing, set up Viktor in Slack and Claude skills.

How to use it: copy the whole thing, paste it into your bot (or save it as a skill file if you use Claude Code), and say “viktor vs claude”. It walks you through the rest. Works with any agent that can read your files.

# Viktor vs Claude

Pick the right tool for each job without paying twice.

## Steps, in order
1. **Count.** Ask: people who need Claude for their own writing and analysis, people who only hand work to an AI in Slack or Teams, total headcount, current Claude plan.
2. **Split the work.** Personal work on own files = Claude Cowork. Shared channel work = Claude Tag or Viktor. Microsoft Teams today = Viktor (Claude Tag is Slack only, Teams on a waitlist).
3. **Check the plan.** Claude Tag needs a Claude Team or Enterprise plan (not Free, Pro or Max), an Owner to set it up, a funded usage balance and a spend limit.
4. **Price it.** Use only current prices from claude.com/pricing and viktor.com/pricing, with the date checked. Claude seats x headcount, plus Claude Tag channel usage (no published per-task price). Viktor: one workspace plan with shared credits. Show monthly and annual.
5. **Tools.** List the 5 tools the recurring jobs touch. Mark each as Claude Tag preset, Claude Tag custom API/MCP build, or Viktor integration. Flag multi-client accounts.
6. **Test.** Same 2 weekly jobs, one private channel, spend limit or trial credits, every send, post, ad change and CRM edit behind approval. Log setup hours, cost and whether the team used the output.

## Rules
- Never quote a price you haven't checked on the official page today.
- Never invent per-task costs. Both sides bill by use; measure in the test week.
- Say when Claude wins: team already on Claude Team, writing and analysis heavy, per-seat budget fits, an Owner ready for setup.
- Say when Viktor wins: agency team living in Slack or Teams, recurring reports across many tools and client accounts, one shared pool, nobody to run service accounts.
- Using both is fine. One owner per job.

## Done when
The user has a recommendation per job, a priced worksheet for their headcount and a test running on 2 real jobs.
